Italy : Pisa
Winter 2011
Journal Entry... No wonder those who visited Pisa did all sorts of poses to the leaning Tower of Pisa, and I would find out why.
As I'd see it, the bell tower is Pisa's singular attraction to date, with the Cathedral and the Baptistery completing a well-meaning triumvirate on the green lawn of Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles).
Why in the world would the tower choose to lean on one side to begin with, is anybody's guess, which might as well be good as mine. Had the tower simply grown tired from where it stood over the centuries? Must we blame it on the tourist poses at the tower? Is it simply a case of Man vs. Gravity, where the force of nature had overpowered human ingenuity?
