Journal Entry... As if every city in Spain did not have an old town to it, there's one city that would pride itself as more medieval than the rest. With another day to spare, hubby and I went off journeying to the medieval city of Siguenza, in the Guadalajara province of Spain.

5-nov: Day trip to Siguenza...
The Tren Medieval attraction awaited riders at Chamartin station, in Madrid, offering an incredible, historical and animated adventure to Siguenza. The Tren Medieval would have kept us awake on the two hour train ride to Siguenza, from Madrid, but the ride costs Euro-27, per person. A regional train that only charged Euro-10, per person, did the trick.

It already rained  the other day... and as the saying goes, "When it rains, it pours." It was intermittently raining in Siguenza the day of of our day trip. Autumn season brought in an erratic weather forecast in Spain. I had brought a small foldable umbrella and a hat, for when it rains, which hubby and I shared, and when it did rain hard, we ended up getting drenched by rainwater, anyways.

Like Chicken Little, I was running about in my wet hat and sneakers, exclaiming, "The sky is falling!"; my leather boots would have served better to counter the wet streets, but I rarely bring it during autumn travel. Hubby held on to the umbrella, which cannot fit two persons at the same time. On the wall in Calle Mayor was the "Santa Clara" sign of a familiar patroness; there's a tradition of offering a dozen eggs to the patroness in exchange for good weather, but it was too late in the day for that as we were already in Siguenza... los miserables en la lluvia!

At Calle Mayor, hubby and I continued walking uphill to the medieval castle - Castillo, that jutted out from Siguenza's townscape. There was a weekend roadshow of Mercedes Benz cars in the castle that Saturday, the open lot in front of the castle have been filled with parked cars bearing the Star insignia.
Walking downhill was when the most welcoming sign of the #RestauranteTabernaSeguntina appeared in sight. Extremely hungry, we wasted no second ordering a Spanish meal. Hubby ordered Toledo's version of cochinillo (roasted pork), while I ordered Toledo's version of cordero (roasted lamb). Said restaurant must be the popular one in Siguenza, as diners spilled out to the garden extension of the dining area, arriving at lunch time which, in Spain time, is about 2PM. Next door Michelin-starred restaurant (still) awaited its diners, while Taberna Seguntina already got a full house. Restaurant's meal was something to look forward to especially on a rainy day in Siguenza.
