Travel Journal... On this trip, I'm set out to explore Japan's Central Honshu region.

Cathay Pacific's business.
27-jan, 1:13am
January 26-27, Saturday, Sunday: Transit day. 6:22PM, Cathay Pacific specific lounge, NAIA-Terminal 3. 8:24PM, takeoff Manila. 10:04pm, touchdown Hong Kong. 10:39PM, Cathay Pacific lounge at The Pier. 1:33AM, takeoff Hong Kong. 5:03AM, touchdown Narita.

Cathay Pacific's lounge noodle bar and tea house had kept me satisfied, and distracted to not count the extra travel hours. How I wished to stay, and sleep longer in the business class full bed, but a mid-flight tail wind would not have it, pushing an early arrival in Narita 1-hour in advance.

8:14AM, NEX (Narita Express) ride. 9:45am, Shinjuku stop. Check-in: JR Blossom Hotel Shinjuku, Rm. 503. The hotel was just a block away from the Shinjuku station. A hotel charge was added to the bill, paid on top of first day hotel booking for our desired early check-in, than the 2:00PM schedule. Having just flown during unholy hours, early hotel check-in would spell a whale of difference.

January 28, Monday: Day trip to Kamakura & Enoshima island. 1-hour train ride, coming from Shinjuku station. Exit Kamakura station, enter Enoden line, purchase a Day Pass. Day Pass ticket allows a passenger end-to-end, unlimited hop on, hop off to and from designated stops, leading to known sights and landmarks. Like, the Hase Stop: to the Great Buddha of Kamakura; the Kamakurakokomae Stop: to the Slam Dunk anime-railroad crossing; and the Enoshima Stop: to cross a 400-meter bridge that connects mainland Kamakura to the island of Enoshima, and there wander around, till the night illumination spectacle at the top. It was calming at the seaside. And on a clear day, the distant Mt. Fuji could gracefully appear on the horizon and serve as backdrop to one's souvenir photo.

The Great Buddha sits, and awaits the arrival of curious visitors.
Buddha's giant slippers are tacked on a wall in the meantime.
